Collecting anime (and the other stuff)
« on: March 02, 2009, 10:20:00 AM »
For those who actually buy their anime merchandise, are you a collector?

It's just that I went to a store yesterday and saw a Haibane Renmei artbox with all the dvds inside, used, being sold for $75.  I don't buy used anime but it was nice to see my favorite show when Geneon doesn't make those anymore.  So I picked it up and found something horrible.  They stuck clear duct tape on it from the sides to the fron to keep the dvds in.  So the box was ruined forever.  Why would you want to ruin yoshitoshi ABe's art like that?  ;_;

So...that just made me wonder.  And I collect anime, manga and figurines, I guess.  Got some artbooks too.

I collect anime, manga, wall scrolls, soundtracks, plushies (very few), and some odds and ends. I rarely by a set like the one you mentioned Waffo, used. If its gonna have extra stuff like that, I buy it brand new, no matter the cost.

It annoys me when I got to Barnes and Noble and I find manga taken out of the wrappings that come with stickers and stuff. I like to open stuff like that myself, not have it already preopened and find that some of the extras like the stickers have been removed by some thief.

Temp sig set from a long time ago, only until I get around to making a new one. Been ages.

Ah, I've got a few soundtracks and plushies.  I don't consider my plushies part of my collection though.  Guess cuz I only really have two official ones (Ghibli characters).

And I don't ever buy used either.  It's just that all the box sets were in the same spot in FYE, used and new.  Sure made me sad, though.

And you are not.

I just want a room filled with shelves dedicated to my hobby...  Is that so much to ask?  >_>
