charlie and the chocolate factory
« on: July 15, 2005, 08:07:40 AM »
fecking amazing. went to the midnight showing. *sigh* all the goth freaky people came out cuz it's directed by tim burton. horrible.

but holy shit. johnny depp is an absolute genious. he was AMAZING. and i know most people are like, "ick, kiddy movie!" but i sort of think it was willy wonka for teenagers :P cuz if i was a little kid watching that movie holy crap willy wonka wouldve scared the shit out of me cuz he was so effing creepy.

all i can say is that it was simply amazing.

and on an unrelated note, HARRY POTTER COMES OUT AT MIDNIGHT!

oy... i'm getting absolutely no sleep :P

well you cant exactly say gene wilder is a better willy wonka if you havent even seen johnny depp as willy wonka. besides, i think they play the character completely differently so i cant really make a comparison between them... the oompa loompas were fecking hilarious

how did i know you were going to say that? :P

anyway, it's just because i loved gene wilder as willy wonka, and i don't really care for johnny depp. i guess i can't make a proper judgement as i haven't seen it yet, but whatever. that's how i feel. it's not that important anyways... just my opinion.

oh yeah, and the oompa loompas look different now... like, a lot different. i wonder why... like, were the ones in the first movie changed from original designs? or are the ones in the new movie changed? i dunno. it's weird.

but actually, i'm kinda getting annoyed at how many old shows/movies are getting remade. it's as if people are running out of ideas...

a LOT of it's changed. that's why i cant really compare it to the old movie.

meh. if you knew i was gonna respond with that, why'd you say it anyway.

idk. like, a LOT of old movies should NOT be remade. sequels to things like little mermaid shouldnt exist. but some remakes are actually ok. i thought the new phantom of the opera was pretty good and whatnot. just cuz a lot of them suck doesnt mean they all suck.

is there a problem with me expressing my thoughts?

i didn't say that all remakes suck. stop twisting my words... i'm just annoyed that they can't come up with something new and original. granted they can give it an original spin... like in this case i guess... but it just seems a little boring to me...

eh, whatever. i think i'm gonna see this tonight or tomorrow.

I thought it was hilarious.  The oompa loompas were all the same guy and the dances were wicked funnie.   I also thought Johnny Depp was better than I had expected in this film.

Oh, and the new songs...I don't think they compare to the original oompa loompa songs, however, I think they were great all on their own.  That, and entertaining.

I want to watch this movie but it has yet to be released in Australia. It's coming out in September 1, how stupid...

This version seems to be very different than the original movie. It looks less like a kiddy movie than the other. Depp is the only actor I can think of playing the role as Willy Wonka.

It doesn't matter if it's not as good as the first movie but as long as the chocolate, sweets and candy look yum, it's all good for me!

hmm... at another board i go to, someone said that you can't really compare this movie to the original movie because the first movie wasn't as direct of an interpretation from the book. it's like they're two completely different films. certain scenes are left out and a lot of things are different. so it's like they're so different that you can't even compare them.

i still haven't gotten a chance to see it, but i think he made a good point.

I watched it the other day. I liked it a lot. I love jhonny depp, he's an exceptional actor. also everyone was thinking it was going to be based on the old movie and was comparing it to that, but its more based on the book. It has the glass elevator, and the squirrels. ^.^

i've been telling a lot of people about the fact that it's based on the book... they either don't realize what i mean or just ignore me :P

and yeah, that's why i really don't think you can compare the two movies. they're like their own separate stories almost.

and both were good.

I watched it a few weeks ago and it was kool but I preferred the first one, even though it wasn't based on the book. Some parts I loved and some parts I didn't. But it was still kool. But I reckon the chocolate and candy looked better in the old one lolz...
