I like them really much....although they are a little ballaballa...brainbug!
But the criticism on the world they are living in isn't a bád thing to point out....
allthough their countermeassurments in movie two are quite ridicolous!

is it confirmed data that there will be a third one?

Yupie!  ;D ;D

Well, the first one is far better in many ways... for one thing, it was based off a novel. Also, it was fully directed by Fukasaku Kinji... but half way through filming the second one, he died, leaving the rest to his son, Fukasaku Kenta. Now, I don't know how much this effected the movie, but it obviously had issues and was too much of a typical sequal. :-\ I have not heard anything of the third one, though... and I don't feel like researching. ^^;;

If all you watched it for is the blood, BRII should be right up your alley.

In the second one, there was no one getting stabbed in the nuts...
That, and so many people died off before they even got to the island.  Booo

Unless the third one can measure up to the first one, it's not even worth look forward to it.

*Major SPOILERS on BR II ahead*

Well, the raid on the isle was something like the d-day in the normandy...
and the second one was even more unrealistic than the first one, since why should the terroris...ahem...wild seven hide themeselfes in a place whith nowere to run and hide? But who cares? The first one was about friendship, parent&child-relationship and murder, the second one was for political reasons and *tadaa* more murder and violence!
But, who cares....when you not crosslink them too hard, they are good films for themselves!

...someone seen Old-Boy? Thats one hell of a film!

The first one was social commentary on the Japanese public school system.

And Old Boy is sweet, although I don't see how it belongs in a Battle Royale discussion.

Yup, gotten OT.
Sorry about that!

BTW, it isn't only critic on japanese school-system only! (Well, IMHO!)
Pretty much countrys have serious problems with their educational system, and with their youngsters, sice the "no fun,no future"-syndrom (?) is spreading more and more our worlds society!

That's not what the film was getting it.

Okay, the thing about Battle Royale is that it's a social commentary on the Japanese public school system. I said that already, right? Well, it plays on all the competition between students and "encouragement" by parents, teachers, et cetera to be the best, and takes that to magnitude 100. From battling to get the highest score on a test to battling to stay alive. It is Japanese public school, taken to the nth degree.

Well.... since this has turned into a dialogue between the two of us...

Yeah, I think you are right about that.
But IMHO thats not all. As I watched the two movies, and looked closely on some of the characters, they had problems in the past, and were not able / not willing to adapt to the surrounding society. Not only the problem of being the best of all, ... instead (?) the problem of being brainwashed by society and educational systems/schemes to run calmly within this programs for the first time.

...Arrr...how do I explain my points clearly in english???  ??? :-\ >:(

Anyway, did you read the manga? There IMHO it is better explained the deep mind-bug some of the students in the class have, and why they are in the BR-System. That was the problem the fil had, not enough time to bring al facettes in!
