2004 Mensa Invitational
« on: April 19, 2005, 05:04:21 AM »
The Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once again asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting or changing one letter, then supplying a new definition.
 ===================

Here are the winners for 2004:

 1. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize that it was your money to start with.

 2. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.

 3. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stop bright ideas from penetrating.  (This layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.)

 4. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject  financially impotent for an indefinite period.

 5. Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.

 6. Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.

 7. Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.

 8. Hipatitis: Terminal coolness.

 9. Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. ( This one got extra credit. )

 10. Karmageddon: It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right?  And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's like, a serious bummer.

 11. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.

 12. Glibido: All talk and no action.

 13. Dopeler effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.

 14. Arachnoleptic fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web.

 15. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito, that gets into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out.

 16. Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a worm in the fruit you're eating.

What's the point of this? ::)

Filippo Inzaghi is da man. Also, Italy is da man. AC Milan is also da man just as equally.

No, people created a new word and a funny meaning for that word.  A lot of the terms/slang that floats around, and that you're probably using,  starts at events like this.

Yeah man, unlike every other post on this forum, this one doesn't have a point.
Sure it does, you just don't get it, and that's so very sad.

What's the point of this?
They're jokes.  A play on words.

Well, I guess this post will weed out those who did not pay attention in English class.

Nice jokes, Jack. I understood most of the words.

But really, what is the point? It's just jokes, right?

Swim upsteam, for the beginning starts there.

There was never any doubt that you would understand PrinJess.  :)

But yes, this was originally intended as just some funny words to ponder. Yeah well, life goes on... and on.... and on...  ;)

I wasn't speaking of the thread. I meant: why the hell would there be a contest for this sort of thing? I mean, this is something that you would just do while skipping gym class or something. If you really cared about stuff like this.

Wow, I actually guessed that someone was sarchastic sarcastic online and was right for once!

I think the words were an interesting read for a bit.

lol you clearly didn't catch on to my obvious sarcasm. I was obviously making fun of Spike's stupid comment, but I guess I have to explain myself next time, sorry jack. (That last statment is also sarcasm, just in case you were planning on posting something like "No you don't have to explain yourself")

I think Clash Already said what I wanted to say perfectly.

Because you foolishly thought that Mensa and geniuses did things with a point in mind.  The root of it all is that they find such things fun, why do you have to hate on them for doing something they enjoy?  Where's the love, Spikey?  ;)
I scoff at your pathetic signatures!
