or you can play one of the free ones that are almost as good as those, like ROSE Online (ROSEon for short), KAL Online, Conquer, or MapleStory.

Play guild wars, buy once and you get to play online for free. I would be playing if I weren't broke.

The title of this thread is redundant. Learn your acronyms, fool.

well, i work at Target, so i managed to get the cd key for the game free of charge, if you know what i mean. but Guild Wars really isn't an MMORPG, so from that list, the only other one i've played is FFXI, so i guess i would say go with that. however, if you like your MMORPGs to have a shorter time commitment, then WoW is probably your best bet.

I agree with Clash. FFXI and WoW are both really awesome games. But FFXI requires a bigger chunk of time. So If you want to play a game forever, play ffxi, if your more of a casual player play WoW. If your not a casual player you'll reach the highest lvl in WoW pretty quick, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it depends on what your looking for.

I've played FFXI, WoW, and Guildwars.. and I'd say FFXI is the best by far if you have commitment and patience to play the game. WoW is fun if you really just like to play by yourself and get high level then going and "pwning some n00bs" everywhere you can. Guildwars.. I really did not get into it as much as I thought I would.

What the hell are you guys talking about? WoW takes commitment. Maybe if you're a fucking loser with no life and play games non-stop from morning till night and have no sex then yes, WoW might not offer what you require, but WoW has such a bigger world, with way more stuff to do. FFXI is just populated by a bunch of gamers with twenty-eight peripheral LCDs and no futures who spend every goddamn waking moment at their computer, arguing over Cloud's pants: are they calfskin Jodhpurs or just regular ole pre-baggy cyberprep jeans?

Of course WoW takes commitment, just like any other mmorpg game. I'm was just saying that it take way longer to become the best in ffxi then becoming the best in WoW. My goal isnt to be the best ever to play the game, I doubt thats many peoples goal, I'm just saying one game takes alot more time to get to the top. Both are great games, having played both.

Hey Jammer, I play FFXI.  Cloud13m is right.  My friend was past level 40 in WoW in less than 2 weeks.  He balanced a life with this too.  FFXI takes MUCH longer to level up in.  It's insane.

Also, as I play FFXI, I like to think I have a future.  I also have a life.  Radical concept isn't it?

Thanks for everyone's advices~

I really looked forward to buy FFXI or WOW, but I realized that I can't afford the monthly fee...

So, in the end I'm stuck with Guild Wars  :)

FFXI reqires alot of time, but more importantly SKILL. If you are a person who gives up very easily dont play XI. Because the game doesnt even get started until level 75^^ lol.

I started playing FFXI um... around last september or so. Took me around a month to get to level 40 thief... finally got my artifact dagger. Then for some reason after i got another level i didn't feel like playing it anymore. LOL now i did all that training for nothing. Not to mention i also had a lvl 38 Whitemage and a lvl 30 Ninja... Although they're all at low levels it took me quite a bit a time(and money) training them... Talking about it kinda makes me wanna play it again. But then again, I don't feel like go through all that again. Pain in the ass training.

Nothing wrong with wasting a bit of time.

So far I have found City of Heroes/Villians to be the best MMORPG.

That said...After awhile, they all suck.

*shrugs*

what about wasting a lot of time? i can't play a game anymore for more than 40 minutes, i just get bored of it.

You are going to waste most of your life anyway.

So you may as well enjoy what you can.

i don't really enjoy spending hours in front of my monitor. maybe if i was getting payed to do it, it wouldn't be so bad, but since i actually have to pay to do it, i'll pass.

besides, there are other games that are much more fun than MMOs and don't require as much of a commitment.

I used to play MMORPG's but anymore its not really worth the time. Like Clash said after playing MMORPG's a long time it kinda gets boring since they are all very much alike. Like they usually say, if you have played one, you have played them all.

I've played Ragnarok Online, FFXI, and WoW, and they are all very diffrent. :D It's not so easy to point out all the ways they differ, but after playing them all you can see how diffrent the mechanics of the games really are.

I can't wait for the MMORPG to rule them all.

For anyone unable to figure out which one I mean...Lord of the Rings Online

From what I've read, it will follow the story line. With the battle of Isengard taking part, 3 years in to the game.

of course .hack// all series of .hack  >__<

Now I have never liked the .hack series as after about an hour it is pretty much the same thing over and over. Though the sound and music was pretty good and the graphics were nice. Guild Wars is not considered an MMORPG, while WoW and a few others are but it is a game I still enjoy after not playing for a few months.
