.....READ IT TO FIND OUT.  Jesus christ.  In a nutshell, it is a recently published Jump manga that is like....think Edo In Space.  Pretty interesting and weird at times...

I've read the Jump version and I think you guys are doing pretty good with it. The storyline is somewhat original but, even though I don't like most of the characters too much I say it will be pretty intesting and something to read when you have free-time.

Is it me or does this manga seem a little bit like Kenshin o_O

If by Kenshin you mean dealing with "samurai", then yes, there is an incredibly superficial similarity.

if you wanna be literate "Gintama" means silver balls. also "Kintama" means gold balls or testicles. very funny how one letter separates those two.

You were right about Gin, but in this case "Tama" is "Soul". So, it's "silver soul".

The "tama" in Kintama (金玉) is a different "tama" than in Gintama (銀魂), heh. But yeah, it's definitely intended to be a pun. =)

Actually, I decided I'm gonna put a similar note in the first chapter of volume 2, but not the same as above...

notes really help explain jokes when there's no chance of "englishing" them.

Yeah... I think it'll be simpler from here on out to leave "Yorozuya" untranslated and make a big note about it...

I have read the translation of Silver Soul (who ever came up with balls... i just dont know..) anyway, it is very funny and  it is a great manga. I love the main character, Gin, he is awesome. I only see a slight similarity between this manga and kenshin (which I love also) Actually I love all the characters, dont knock it till you've read it.

It's a play on words for "balls of steel"...quite a clever pun if I may say so.
