Title: New Forum System
Post by: Motoko-chan on August 30, 2004, 02:00:46 PM
Well, if you are reading this, you are seeing the new forums. Not too different from the old system, hopefully.

To do a little cleanup, I removed all accounts that have not logged in since February 2004, and also any posts in the boards that have not been updated i nthe last 30 days. The older posts will still be viewable on the old forum system once I get a chance to bring that back up.

Please direct any questions or concerns on the new system to me, por post in this thread.

In interest of keeping this on-topic, any off-topic posts will be deleted without notice.

Well, to start off, the quotes need to be seperated when they are nested. Otherwise, I guess we will just have to get used to it.

haha... nice. Anyway, I just got a complaint about the new emoticons... so I changed them back to the classic set... since I agreed. Any thoughts? We could always just let each member decide.

Thats what I was complaining about too, you n00b.

I'm not a big fan of the fact that every person has gotta go into their profile and change the "Return to topic after post" thing...  But... Maybe I'm the only one that likes to do that? >_>

I always remember it doing a return to the post after you reply. I'll look into that.

At least there are not too many problems yet.

Agreed, I was just looking for that control on the admin panel to change it... I guess you have to do it though your profile, huh? I posted and was just suprised that I got shoved back to the forum instead of the topic. >_<

I'll look around and fix it.

I looked, I did not see anything that allows us to change the default for the whole board. Oh, and I added in a limit for the avatars, refusing anything larger than 120x120. I also just took out the news fader... we did not need it with the News at the top of the board... plus I just don't like faders, they waste room on the main page. I also just changed a few other small things to make the settings more like the old board...

Okay. I am sure there is a global setting somewhere. I'll look in the SMF support forums

Oh, another thing... are you still transfering? There seems to be no threads in the Scanslation forum and the Site Support forum...

Yes, I know it is nice to post in non-english alphabets, but for those of us who can't read, can you also give a translation?

(Babelfish kinda kills the language...)

When are you gonna make the theme thingies for the old boards and stuff?
Title: Re: New Forum System
Post by: Motoko-chan on August 30, 2004, 04:37:05 PM
When I get time. I'm a little overworked at my paying job right now...

If anyone remembers the colors of the old theme before this one, please, please PM me. I don't have them.

Do expect a theme based on the first Yanime forums soon.

Hey, wasn't the forum background....white before? Good thing you changed it. "Blinded by the white(light)" entered my mind.

Charles remembers the second one, I think he said.  Don't work too hard or else your brain will explode.

PrinJess, that was probably when I was changing the themes temporarily to fix a bug in this one. The theming engine on this system is a lot more powerful, but different enough that a few bugs cropped up in moving this style over.

That one style is "Classic YaBB SE" and can be loaded again through the profile section under "Look and Layout Preferences" There are currently three styles counting this one. Look around. I'll be loading a few more as days pass (if it says ALPHA in the name, don't use it - I am actively working on that theme, and it will break)

No, that was only for a few days at one point, very temporary.

Oh, okay. After i refreshed the page, it returned back to normal. I knew it wasn't permanent. The eyes can only take so much.

Yeah, I dunno why YaBB didn't support it in the first place. >_<

That doesn't look like what I remember the old one to look like...  It was darker.

That isn't any theme Yanime has used, it is just a builtin theme.

Why doesn't it quote your whole post, along with judau's quote? <<; or am I doing something wrong?

Definitely not, we just need the theme to differentiate between the quotes. We NEED nested quotes, or people will be very confused.

Change it back, change it back!

Changed.

Edit: Ick. I see what you mean. I'll look into the issue. Probably an artifact of this template. I might just rebuild the template from scratch.

Edit again: Yep. Template issue. The other themes work fine. I'll rebuilt the template tonight if I have time.

Well, /yabbse currently redirects. (Until I make the old forums read-only and open them back as an archive)

Okay, quick fix on the nested quotes while I re-write the theme.

Okay. I just rebuilt the theme. This should fix all the weird php errors the old one was having. It also fixes the nested quotes issues, and other sundry things.

I have started a new topic on the themes for this board.

To change your theme, go into your profile and choose: "Look and Layout Preferences"

You can change the current theme there.

Judau: Enjoy the "Yanime Classic" theme, made specially for you.

The old forum system was running an odd beta version of YaBBSE (which made repair of it when it want down very painful). I moved it to SMF, which is basically the same as YaBBSE, but with nicer code and active development.

And please don't post in such old threads. Locking to keep others from doing the same...
