Title: Similarity
Post by: Tenchido on August 07, 2004, 12:35:07 PM
has anyone read Yakitate Japan, translated by SnoopyCool? because when I read Addicited to Curry, it almost seems like the same as Yakitate Japan...
anybody else notice?

Yakitate is more of a gag series, but both are about cooking with slightly stupid, lovable characters.  The cooking is probably the common theme that brings them together.  I personally think Yaki is more funny.  The cooking does seem kinda similar though.

No Way!!! Addicted is WAAAAY better than Yakitate.

Firstly, they are SIMILAR because that's the way cooking Manga are. Read/watch Cooking master boy, Nijiiro Ramen, that cooking manga by Shinji Saijo... All of them have outrageous outtakes, distorted faces and such for strange culinary delights.

Compare the two....

Yakitate
Plus
Great Reactions on Judging. (a little too Language based at times)
funny and never gets boring.

minus
Shallow and unrealistic Plot
Undefined and wavering Characters (yukino is a good example)
Recipes are too hard to mimic
Jokes can be grammar/language based.

Addicted
Plus
Fan service. Hordes and Hordes of Fan Service
realisitic (as far as mangas go) storyline
Much more drama (Book 7 is an absolute Tear Jerker)
Awsome Artwork
Usable, Realistic Recipes

minus
Compared to other cooking manga, Tasting and judging could be sooo much more extreme.
loop holes in the plot

in Short, Yakitate Uses the same formula as every OTHER cooking manga, while Addicted to Curry is more plot based, and aims to teach rather than entertain.

i agree with im_biggy.

keep in mind as well that we have only released up to v3 of curry... i finished reading v11 a while ago and it's a LOT more interesting than what's happening now.  Granted, I have never read Yakitate, but if you keep faith in curry, and read up, you won't be disappointed .

I haven't read the Yakikate!! manga but I'm watching the anime right now.... I don't know if the manga is more like Curry or not, but the anime makes ME think more of Cooking Master Boy than Addicted to Curry.

The Yakitate!! Japan is just starting to get good now... and as for Cooking Master Boy... I haven't really seen it only a couple parts of it on my parent's Chinese channels...

curry is more adult, and you guys being kids prolly wouldn't understand certain implications of it ;)

but there is an older audience that seems to enjoy this manga as much as I do.

Addicted to Curry is awesome!

At first I got attracted to it because of the fact that it's a manga about curry.  Second was the drawing style... (I admire other ppl's drawings because I can't really draw that well) but somehow the story got to me...

I also feel that the author really put alot of research into the recipes.

Question to cccnnn though:  How many volumes have been released of "Curry"?  Is it coming to an end?

Well, you guys have alot of other projects going on.   And I think translators and editors prefer to work on the more popular projects eh? (Ichigo 100%)

I just hope you don't forget about curry...  It'd suck if it got dropped..

Private Prinnys holy forum rule number one:
Do not pressure the higher ups... that will only delay the releases, and destroys their fun at their scanalating hobby. Which is never a good option!

Private Prinnys holy forum rule number one:
Pressure them more subtile, so....

Yeah, it would be bad if it would be forgotten or dropped!  :-[

 ;D ;D ;D

Ups... I hope they still take bad jokes with lot of tolerance!

Curry is awesome!

I registered for the sole purpose to ask what Nijiro Ramen is. Because I dunno I can't find any information on it whatsoever.
